*Note: Puppy Pick-up day will be October 30th! If you sign up for Puppy K it will be November 6th but you are welcome to come and meet your puppy on the 30th if you’re able. Only a couple puppies left so contact me asap if you want one of these cuties!
We are so happy to announce that Gabby had her puppies!!! She was amazing and birthed 9 beautiful F1b’s. They were born on 9/5/2016. She had 4 girls and 5 boys. This litter has been so active already and we are having so much fun working with them.
What does week one look like?
The first 36-48 hours are critical when working with puppies. This is the point where they are nursing and with 8 brothers and sisters for competition for milk they can lose out on their share. Because she had a larger litter, we have separated them into two groups to give everyone a chance to nurse and we switch them out. Jake and I keep a constant watch on them to make sure they have a good body temperature and are hydrated. If they need it, we will help them out by supplementing a feeding with goats milk. The first week they spend all their time with Gabby nursing and sleeping. They haven’t opened their eyes yet and cannot crawl (though you would have a hard time believing that with how active they are)!

What is the next step?
The next step is to enjoy these precious little ones!! You still have 8 weeks (9 if you sign up for puppy k) so you have plenty of time to get things ready to bring them home. If you are like me and like to get a head start or like to plan you can check out our Puppy Check List. This will tell you the basic things you will need for a new puppy.
Here are pictures and the weights of each puppy from their first day:

9/14/16: We can’t believe how much these sweeties have grown!!! One week old and as cute as can be. They have just melted our hearts. This week they still have their eyes closed and are not quite walking. But that doesn’t stop them from getting around! They are quite capable of finding mama’s milk. They are all together now as they are strong enough to get their fair share. Gabby still does not like to be away from the puppies for very long and is mowing us over to return to them during our walks!
Here are their individual photos and weights for this week:
9/20/16:
Oh my goodness….two weeks old!!! These little cuties are starting to open their eyes. They are learning to bark (practicing a lot) and are moving around more and more. Gabby is slowly starting to enjoy longer periods of time away from them and is appreciating snuggle time with us. The puppies are still spending most of their time with her and sleeping. As they start to get their feet under them and more independent we will take them outside to play!
Also this week, they will get their nails clipped for the first time. This will make them used to getting it done and therefore easier for you and the groomer in the future. Speaking of grooming, check out our New Puppy Check List ,if you haven’t already done so, to get an idea of the basic things that you will need before puppy comes home (grooming supplies included!)

And here are some more pictures of them being cute:
9/28/16: Three weeks old already!!!! The puppies have really grown into their cuteness!! They are gaining weight well and are starting to spend some time away from mama. The other morning when I went down to see them, Gabby was lying with her tummy up and against the wall! And still one of the puppies was climbing on top of her to get to the milk! Ha!
This week the puppies got to play outside! Here is a video of their first experience!
Here are their individual pictures and weights this week!
10/5/16: Sorry for the late update!!! I’ve been on my own this week as the hubby is out of town taking one of our mama’s to be bred. I’ve been able to get some extra bonding time with the little guys and I have to say they are just the sweetest!
They are spending more and more time away from their mama. They are eating their own food now in addition to some feedings with Gabby. So far, they LOVE being outside! We have now opened up their whelping room so they can get to a covered outside area or be inside.

10/12/16: Well things have been a little wild at Evergreen Doodles! The dog whisperer is back and I have never been more thankful for him and all the work he does!! It is true what they say–absence makes the heart grow fonder! This week, our little brother is getting married!!! And to one of my dear friends!!! We are so happy and excited for them and have the honor of being in their wedding. So the wedding bells are in the air as we help them count down the days–2 more!! We had to take the pictures and videos over the span of a few days as we would bump up against various plans and preparations. But we got it done!
And for our sweet pups…This is an exciting week!! Their personalities are definitely showing through and we are loving watching them learn and explore!
Next week we will start the puppy match up process! Therefore, this week what I would like is for everyone to watch the videos and look at the pictures and pull out 3-4 of your favorite puppies.
Here is how it will go: Between now and then Jake and I will perform a temperament test on each of the puppies. Please read that blog post so you know what tests we are doing and you can think about the kind of temperament you are looking for in a puppy.
Keep in mind that with Golden Doodles there will not be any extremes and you are going to find more similarities between each of the puppies than differences. In addition, your puppy’s personality will be a combination of it’s nature and your nurture. So having a good training foundation is key. You can read through our Biggest Mistakes Made When Housebreaking to help you avoid pitfalls.
After we have done the temperament test with each of the puppies, we will look through all the applications and pick our top 2-3 puppies for what you were looking for. Then we call the first people on our list. Together we talk about the puppies that stood out to them and the puppies that stood out to us for them. After going over the test results and talking it through they will pick which one they want. Once they are matched up, we will repeat the process with the second people on our list and so on until everyone is matched up.
Often people are concerned with getting matched up with the “right puppy.” My advice is always to not worry about it! The process always feel very natural and organic. And remember–they are all super cute and it is hard to go wrong! The only problem I run into is when people have their mind set on ONE puppy and that puppy gets chosen. To avoid that, please keep an open mind and open heart to all of the puppies and narrow down your favorites to 3-4.
Here are videos of them playing outside! We took them out two at a time so you can get a good look at how adorable they are:
And just for fun….
10/18/16: Match up week has finally arrived!!! This is an exciting time for us and for families as we get to match everyone up with your puppy!! I will be giving everyone a call this week when I am ready to match them up so be on the look out for my call! This process can take a while so please be patient if you don’t hear from me for a few days. Also, please keep in mind there are other families waiting for their puppy match up after you! If you are not signed up for Puppy K this is the time to order your vitamins and food so it can be there when your puppy comes home!
Here are individuals of each of the puppies and their temperament test results. Please review the test in order to see what behaviors the puppies exhibited to earn the results they got. Keep in mind, this is a guideline for you to use–not the final say on their personalities. As the shy personalities get comfortable/older you may see them not as shy. The independent behaviors may also decrease as a puppy bonds with their family. Basically, please see this as a helpful tool but do not put too much into it. We have spent the last 6 weeks with them and can tell you they are all sweethearts! We would love to keep any (or all–hehe!) of them!!

10/27/16: We can’t believe puppy pick-up is this weekend!!! These cuties just grew up so fast!
I wanted to invite all of you to like our facebook page I just started at : facebook.com/evergreendoodles
I don’t know why I didn’t start one sooner! Our vision is to use it as a way to update us–we love to see pictures and see how things are going! Plus, I thought it would be fun to also get to see updates of your puppy’s litter mates, half siblings, and so on. We will also post updates on what is happening here so your newsfeed will often have pictures of more adorableness!
I also wanted to say thank you to all of you for working with us. I know it is a special thing to get a new member of the family and we are honored to have been a part of it for you.
Here are some last week puppy pictures! See you all soon!
